Last summer, I had a very special day that I will never forget. It was the day when I won the first prize in the English Speech Contest held at our school.

At the beginning, I felt very nervous. I had prepared for weeks, practicing my speech every day. I even asked my English teacher to correct my pronunciation and grammar. However, as the day approached, my confidence grew. I believed that with enough preparation, I could do well.

On the day of the contest, the hall was full of students and teachers. I sat quietly in the audience, watching others give their speeches. When it was my turn, I took a deep breath and walked onto the stage. My heart was beating fast, but I tried to stay calm. I spoke clearly and confidently, sharing my thoughts on the importance of learning English.

After I finished, there was a moment of silence. Then, the audience started to clap. I looked at the judges and saw them smiling. Later, I found out that I had won first place. I was so excited that I almost cried.

This experience taught me that hard work and self-belief can lead to success. I also learned that speaking in public is not as scary as it seems. From that day on, I became more confident in my English skills and in myself.
